Choosing the right installation environment is one of the most important steps to ensure your digital totem operates reliably and has a long service life. Exposure to unsuitable temperatures, excessive humidity, or poor ventilation can lead to hardware failure, reduced display quality, and voided warranty. Before mounting or powering on your unit, review the requirements below for your specific model type.

Installation Environment Guidelines

When selecting and preparing the installation site, keep the following requirements in mind:
  • Ensure adequate ventilation — maintain sufficient clearance around the totem so that heat can dissipate freely and airflow is not obstructed.
  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure — for indoor models, prolonged direct sunlight can cause overheating and accelerate display degradation.
  • Do not install in places with excessive humidity — moisture ingress can damage internal electronics and reduce the lifespan of the unit.
  • Keep distance from heat sources — radiators, ovens, industrial equipment, and other heat-generating devices can push ambient temperatures beyond safe operating limits.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Specifics

Indoor digital totems are designed for climate-controlled environments such as shopping centres, offices, hotels, and public buildings.
  • Protection Rating: IP20 — protected against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm; not sealed against water or dust ingress.
  • Ventilation: Natural ventilation is sufficient. Ensure the area around the totem is not enclosed or obstructed.
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to 40°C. Do not operate in unheated spaces during winter months.
  • Humidity: 20% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing. Avoid locations near humidifiers, open windows in rainy conditions, or areas prone to condensation.
