Your digital totem requires a network connection to deliver online content, receive remote management commands through SITEKIOSK ONLINE, and keep the DIGIMAP application up to date. While both wired Ethernet and wireless Wi-Fi connections are supported, a wired connection is strongly recommended — it provides greater stability, lower latency, and eliminates the reliability issues that can arise from Wi-Fi signal fluctuations in busy public environments.

Connection Methods

Network Setup Tips

  • Use networks protected with strong, unique passwords (WPA2 or WPA3 for Wi-Fi).
  • Avoid connecting the totem to unsecured public networks or networks shared with untrusted devices.
  • Update network passwords regularly and revoke access for devices that are no longer in use.
  • Consider placing the totem on a dedicated network VLAN to isolate it from other sensitive systems.
  • Prefer a wired Ethernet connection whenever possible for the most consistent performance.
  • If using Wi-Fi, verify the signal strength at the installation location before finalising the mount — walls, floors, and other obstacles can significantly reduce signal quality.
  • Ensure that the available bandwidth on the network is sufficient to support content delivery, remote management, and any other connected devices sharing the connection.
  • Note the IP address assigned to the totem during initial setup — you may need it for remote management or firewall configuration.
  • If your network environment requires a fixed address, configure a static IP in Windows network settings or via a DHCP reservation on your router.
  • Test the network connection regularly, particularly after any changes to your network infrastructure, to ensure uninterrupted totem operation.
