Totem Digital smart waste bins are used without contact: the door opens on approach and the light indicators show whether there is still room. This page explains how the bin works for the public and the emptying steps for operators.

For the public: throwing away waste

1

Walk up to the bin

The presence sensor detects the user and automatically opens the door of the automated compartment. On models with a voice assistant, the bin can play an audio message.
2

Throw in your waste

Put the waste into the compartment. On the TPV2209, use the compartment that matches the waste type; the two manual compartments open by hand.
3

Walk away

The door closes automatically after the user leaves.

Fill-level indicators

On the WYC-2021, when the strip turns red the door stays closed until the bin is emptied. This keeps the bin from overfilling and waste from ending up on the ground.

For operators: emptying

1

Open the service door

Use the key or locking system of the service door. Wear protective gloves.
2

Remove the bag or liner

Lift out the full bag. On the TPV2209, the 100 L liner in each compartment comes out easily for emptying and cleaning.
3

Fit a new bag

Fit a clean bag so it does not block the door or the level sensor.
4

Close and check

Close the service door and check that the indicator has returned to “available”.

Compactor model (WYC-2021-120)

The compactor presses the waste inside the bin, so the 100 L holds more waste between emptyings. A compacted bag is heavier than a normal one: lift it carefully.

4G monitoring (optional)

With the 4G module, the bin reports its fill level in real time. Operators can plan collection routes for full bins only, cutting unnecessary trips.

LED advertising panels (TPV2209)

The two 760 × 380 mm illuminated panels can show information, educational campaigns about selective collection or advertising. The panels are powered by the same solar system.
