Performing the first startup correctly sets the foundation for reliable, long-term operation of your digital totem. Before pressing the power button, take a few minutes to carry out the checks described below. A careful initial inspection helps you catch any issues that may have occurred during transport and confirms that the unit is ready to operate safely.
Before attempting the first startup, verify all of the following:
  • The power cable is correctly and fully connected to the totem and to the wall outlet.
  • The electrical supply voltage matches the totem’s specifications (220V AC, 50Hz).
  • All internal and external cables are properly secured and free from visible damage.
  • There are no foreign objects inside the totem enclosure or obstructing the ventilation openings.

Startup Procedure

1

Visual Inspection

Carefully examine the totem’s enclosure, screen, and all accessible surfaces for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping or handling. Look for cracks, dents, loose panels, or broken components. If you notice significant damage, do not attempt to power on the unit — contact Totem Digital Romania support before proceeding.
2

Electrical Connections

Connect the power cable firmly to the totem’s power input and plug the other end into a grounded 220V AC wall outlet. Ensure the outlet is easily accessible so you can disconnect power quickly if needed. Do not use extension leads or multi-way adaptors unless they are rated for the totem’s power draw.
3

Power On

Press the power button located on the unit. The display will illuminate and the system will begin its boot sequence. You should see the Windows startup screen appear within a few seconds.
4

System Loading

Allow 2 to 3 minutes for the system to complete its full loading sequence. During this time, Windows will initialise, SITEKIOSK ONLINE will launch, and the DIGIMAP application will load. Do not press the power button again or disconnect power during this phase.
5

Functionality Check

Once the kiosk interface is fully loaded, test the touch screen by tapping various areas of the display to confirm responsiveness. Navigate through the basic functions of the DIGIMAP application to verify that content loads correctly and interactions respond as expected.
Images and media content may appear slowly or load progressively during the first startup — this is completely normal behaviour. The system requires time to load all components, cache assets, and establish any configured network connections. Subsequent startups will be faster.

If the Startup Fails

If the totem does not power on, the display remains blank after several minutes, or the software does not load correctly, do not attempt to disassemble the unit or make adjustments yourself. Contact the Totem Digital Romania technical support team for assistance:
