# MGA0800 air conditioner operation, display and parameters

> Functions of the MGA0800 air conditioning module: cooling, heating, RS485 monitoring, external fan control, display, menus, parameters and commissioning.

The MGA0800 air conditioning module automatically starts and stops cooling (and, optionally, heating) based on the temperature inside the totem cabinet. This page describes its functions, display panel, menu structure, configurable parameters and commissioning.

## Functions

### Cooling

When the cabinet temperature rises above the cooling start temperature, the module starts cooling. When it falls below the cooling stop temperature, cooling stops.

| Parameter | Default | Range | Unit |
| - | - | - | - |
| Cooling start temperature | 35 | 20–40 | °C |
| Cooling stop temperature | 29 | 15–35 | °C |

<Note>
  The cooling start temperature must be higher than the cooling stop temperature + 3 °C.
</Note>

### Heating (optional)

When the cabinet temperature falls below the heating start temperature, the module starts heating. When it rises above the heating stop temperature, heating stops.

| Parameter | Default | Range | Unit |
| - | - | - | - |
| Heating start temperature | 5 | -10–15 | °C |
| Heating stop temperature | 15 | 0–20 | °C |

<Note>
  The heating stop temperature must be higher than the heating start temperature.
</Note>

### Remote monitoring

The module has an **RS485** communication interface supporting the **MODBUS-RTU** protocol, which it uses to communicate with the upper monitoring system. You can also check the running state directly on the display and change parameters there.

### External fan control (optional)

On request, the module can control an external fan for periodic hydrogen discharge and emergency ventilation.

**Hydrogen discharge (optional):** at each cycle, the module starts the discharge fan and the control contact closes.

| Parameter | Default | Range | Unit |
| - | - | - | - |
| Cycle | 24 | 0–72 | h |
| Discharge time | 5 | 0–10 | min |

**Emergency ventilation (optional):** when the cabinet temperature rises above the start temperature, the emergency fans run; when it falls below the stop temperature, they stop.

| Parameter | Default | Range | Unit |
| - | - | - | - |
| Start temperature | 45 | 28–50 | °C |
| Stop temperature | 42 | 25–50 | °C |

## Display panel

| No. | Icon / key | Function | Explanation |
| - | - | - | - |
| 1 | Snowflake | Cooling running | Shows whether cooling is running |
| 2 | Heater icon | Heater running | Shows whether the heater is running |
| 3 | Fan | Fan running | Shows whether the fan is running |
| 4 | SET | Set key | Selects a function and enters parameter setting |
| 5 | ▲ | Up key | Increases the value, page up |
| 6 | ▼ | Down key | Decreases the value, page down |

While running, the main screen (**8.8.8**) shows the actual cabinet temperature. If no key is pressed for 60 seconds, the display returns to the main screen automatically.

## Menu structure

Press **▲** or **▼** to show the **C-P**, **ERR** and **S-P** menus in turn. Press **SET** to enter the displayed menu and **ESC** to return to the main screen.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="C-P: readings">
    Press **▲** or **▼** to show T01–T04 in turn; the value appears after a few seconds.

    | Code | Meaning |
    | - | - |
    | T01 | Cabinet internal temperature |
    | T02 | Evaporator temperature |
    | T03 | Condenser temperature |
    | T04 | Cabinet internal humidity |
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="ERR: alarms">
    Active alarm codes appear on the display. If several alarms are active at once, they are shown in turn.

    | Code | Meaning |
    | - | - |
    | E01 | Cabinet high temperature alarm |
    | E02 | Cabinet low temperature alarm |
    | E03 | Cabinet temperature sensor alarm |
    | E04 | Evaporator temperature sensor alarm |
    | E05 | Condenser temperature sensor alarm |
    | E06 | Evaporator frozen alarm |
    | E07 | System high pressure alarm |
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="S-P: parameter setting">
    The setting menu is password protected. User password: **001**.

    | Code | Parameter | Range |
    | - | - | - |
    | P01 | Cooling start temperature | 25–45 |
    | P02 | Cooling stop temperature | 15–35 |
    | P03 | Heating start temperature | -30–15 |
    | P04 | Heating stop temperature | 0–23 |
    | P05 | High temperature alarm threshold | 25–45 |
    | P06 | Low temperature alarm threshold | 30–60 |
    | P07 | Communication address | 0–255 |
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Note>
  The S-P ranges come from the menu diagram in the manual and partly differ from the tables in the Functions section (for example, P01: 25–45 versus 20–40, and the manual lists 30–60 for P06). Check the accepted values directly on the unit.
</Note>

### Change a parameter

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the S-P menu">
    Press **▲** or **▼** until **S-P** appears, then press **SET** to open the password screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the password">
    After the correct password, the parameter code appears (default **P01**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the parameter">
    Press **▲** and **▼** to change the parameter code, then **SET** to confirm.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change the value">
    Press **▲** and **▼** to adjust the value, then **SET** to save. To exit without saving, press **ESC**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Switch on, switch off and self-test

* **Switch on:** if the unit is off, hold **SET** for 4 seconds.
* **Switch off:** if the unit is running, hold **ESC** for 4 seconds.
* **Self-test:** while running, hold **SET** for 3 seconds. The screen lights fully for 1 second, then shows the cabinet temperature normally while the power icon blinks.

## Commissioning

### Checks before starting

1. There are no obvious obstructions near the internal air inlet and outlet.
2. Power and signal cables are connected correctly and securely.
3. The supply voltage and frequency meet the unit's requirements.
4. The fans turn freely without abnormal noise.

### Starting

1. Close the power switch. The unit runs its self-test, then starts the internal fan. If the internal temperature meets the running condition, the cooling system starts.
2. Operating parameters have default values, so the unit runs normally without configuration. To change parameters, see [Menu structure](#menu-structure).
